Mr.Conservative

Funny how life changes and people forget the little things that matter most. I look at the game of poker today vs. poker 10 years ago, wow its nutz... I remember lying about wear I was because at 16 years old I shouldn't have been gambling or let alone in a bar room. But 2009 its pretty cool to be a poker player ( LETS SAY A WINNING ONE ) I play alot of home games around Hammond as I done when I was younger and now I'm the guy everyone wants to beat, lol I remember growing up this one mfer I couln't never beat but now with the books and online schools and everything else out there to help us develop as a winning player I finally got his #, but by saying that does it really matter... Not at all I just want the money doesn't matter who I get it from as long as I get it... Guess I reached another learning curve in life. Trust might just be one of the greatest thing a man could ever have. Trusting your gut seems to be the answer in life and poker for me knowing when your beat and pack up get ready for another day, thats something I never got until now. Knowing the difference is key!

Weather

Man I have to say the weather today was perfect. My little brother bought a couple of jet skis so we decided to try them out, big mistake lets just say I'm writing this blog with a messed up knee and a broken big toe.(Might I add this shit hurts worse than a broken foot)... Everyone thinks it's so funny I just bought a Baja which is a high-performance speed boat and I out with him on jet skis and now barely can walk.lol Guess their right, One of the reason I was writing thid blog Wow I saw that shulman from cardplayer blasting Harrahs that's nutz throwing the bracelet in the trash, I think that a huge insult to all the poker players that have ever played the WSOP just because he isn't happy with Harrahs (because the way they treated his magazine)... food for thought we all remember the cheating scandal with UB right? Funny I'm looking at a cardplayer magazine right now and u guessed it UB right here in color very nice ad.... By the way my new boat needs a name and I'm having trouble coming up with one ... any idea's? wanted it to have something to do with poker and the south because i plan on doing a few poker runs around the country next summer ... Sitting here thinking wow we finally got it right in New Orleans... Right... I hear alot of hype and credit going to Steve but the credit should go to no other than the Tournament Director of the WSOP Mr. Jack Effel this is the gentleman that developed the structure and the tournament format, just thought I would add that little note... I'm not saying this years crew didn't do a good job because they did!!! I just thought while everyone is out in Vegas this summer you might want to tell Jack thanks.....P.S. I heard that Jack Effel and Jimmy Sommerfeld were putting together structures for all the the WSOP circuit events in order to be a level playing field across the board no matter what Harrah's casino the tournament is at... But I do tip my hat to Mr. Larry Barrett because trust me these structures were already in place after all the issues we had last Dec.2008... Great job for Steve finally getting that iPod issue resolved..

Harrah's New Orleans

I light of everything happening right at Harrah's and my parents are retiring from the family business; I am resigning as the Tournament Director at Harrahs New Orleans, although I was able the fix the tournament formats. ( Or atleast I submitted everyone's input and I think upper management went along with our idea's) I will still deal on a part-time basis in New Orleans...Thanks for everyone's support

New Orleans Event this May

I'm putting together structures for this May... This event is going to start on a Friday and I'm looking for a huge # my thoughts so far and please give me some input. 340 buy-in 4,000 starting chips with 40 min. levels 25/50. 50/100. 75/150. 100/200. 100/200 w/25 ante. 150/300 w/25. 200/400 w/50. 300/600 w/75. 400/800 w/100. 600/1200 w/100. 800/1600 w/200. 1000/2000 w/300. 1200/2400 w/300. 1500/3000 w/400. 2000/4000 w/500. 2500/5000 w/500. 3000/6000 w/500. 4000/8000 w/1000. 6000/12000 w/2000. 8000/16000 w/3000. 10k/20k w/4k. 15k/30k w/5k. 20k/40k w/5k. 30k/60k w/5k. 40k/80k w/10k.... for the 550 buy-in giving 5000 starting chips with 50 min. levels and for the 1k events gives 7500 starting chips with 1 hour levels... Also thoughts of a 6 handed event? A few players asked about shoot outs and head up sorry guys we just dont have the space and keeping in mind that its very hard to dealers in Louisiana because of gaming laws" toughest state by far" .. On my main event were going to keep the stucture as last time I 20k chips with a ton of play.... Please post I have a meeting on Jan.16th to start getting ready ....also thanks Monkey for your input and we are going to make this Tournament the best around...

U know looking back at my last post, I agree two wrongs don't make right.... Guess I'm finished venting.... But everyone please start sending me some input for May meaning events ; NLH , LH, or PLO are all... Then we will start on structures.... I talked to Holly who is our event director at Harrahs and she was telling that certain airlines are offering packages to New Orleans during May from London and I was thinking about Rebuy PLO and Bigger PLO like maybe a 3K or something ???
